Foundation and Board of Trustees

The Foundation for Research for Public Health and Addiction is the responsible body of the Swiss Research Institute for Public Health and Addiction. It is subject to the official supervision of the Foundation.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the strategic direction of the Institute's activities, for the election of the Executive Board and for approving the annual plans and the annual accounts. The composition of the Board of Trustees is in line with the requirements of health policy, research and business; it is composed of leading personalities from the university, health policy and the financial world. In its decisions, the Board of Trustees is bound by the statutes of the foundation charter.

Co-founder of the Patient Safety Forum Bern/Boston and editor of the Journal of Patient Safety
• Iwan Rickenbacher (Vice chairman)
  Prof. Dr. phil., Honorary Professor of Political Communication University of Bern. Communication consultant with own office. Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Swiss School of Journalism Lucerne, formerly Member of the Board of Directors of TAMEDIA AG Zurich. Formerly Director of Teaching Seminar Canton Schwyz, then Secretary General of CVP Switzerland. Since 2017 President of Fachverband Sucht (German-Swiss addiction specialists).
• Georg Kohler
  Prof. Dr. phil, lic. iur. professor of philosophy, especially political philosophy, emeritus 2010. extensive research and publication activities as well as active journalistic work in press and television. Former member of the Board of Trustees of the Liberal Institute.
• Erich Seifritz
  Prof. Dr. med.: Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Zurich and Director of the Psychiatric University Hospital. Vice Dean of Research and Planning at the Medical Faculty of the University of Zurich. President of the Zurich Society of Medical Directors of Psychiatric Hospitals. Vice President of the Swiss Society of Biological Psychiatry. Board member and member of numerous professional societies. Editor of Info Neurology and Psychiatry and of the Journal of Psychiatry, Psychology and Psychotherapy.
• Barbara Broers
  Prof. Barbara Broers, MD, has taught and conducted research at Geneva University Hospital for over 25 years in the field of substance use, addiction, HIV and harm reduction. Vice-president of the Swiss Society of Addiction Medicine. Vice-president of the Swiss Federal Commission on Addiction-relatd questions. Founding member of the Swiss Taskforce for Cannabinoids in Medicine.
• Milo Puhan
  Prof. Dr. Milo Puhan is Full Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Zurich and Director of the EBPI (Institute for Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention). His research interests lie in the prevention and management of chronic diseases and the development of tools that support preference-based healthcare.
